This site is a tribute to Bob.
He is a much loved husband, dad, stepdad, grandad and brother-in-law. A devoted son-in-law to Alice and Ron too who thought the world of him. Always the perfect gentleman, a man of honour, kind and considerate. He loved being outdoors whenever possible be it walking our Border Collie dog Max, playing golf, gardening until it was dark, or driving his classic '76 Triumph Stag with the hood down.
His professional career in corporate insurance lasted 49 years until Bob retired on 29th February 2016. He was very highly regarded by all who knew him and was referred to as 'the legend' for his prowess in the technical insurance field.
He was an excellent cook, loved food especially curries and the occasional glass of red wine.
Bob was a well educated man who spoke fluent french which was very useful for our travels in France.
A classical music fan his favourite composer was J S Bach, but he also enjoyed the Rolling Stones and did a rather unique impression of Mick Jagger!
Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in May 2015 and did very well for the first three years. Sadly the last two years were much more challenging and it was terrible to see him deteriorating gradually, losing so much weight and his interest in food gone. Parkinson's disease took away Bob's joie de vivre.
He will be sorely missed by all the family and so many dear friends, but never forgotten.
RIP Bobby T
Bob you were a lovely kind man and a pleasure to know you. Will be missed by all who knew and love you.
I first met Bob in the early 70's while working at C.E. Heath and later became his sister-in-law. He was best man at my wedding and he had a great sense of humour. He was always making me laugh (usually when I wasn't supposed to laugh). Bob was an extremely patient man and an excellent teacher and nothing was too much trouble for him. An excellent and generous host, Bob's Christmas dinners were legendary and sometimes I wondered whether the food and drink would ever end. Remembering happy times Bob, sleep well my friend.
RIP Bob. I will always think of you when travelling in France.
